The International Technology Transfer (ITT) initiative of TARA aims to create sustainable livelihoods in large numbers by creating new opportunities to build developing economies. It develops and incubates technology based solutions that are suited to local needs, easy to use and most importantly profitable in Asian and African continents.
ITT has been pioneering clean and green technologies in the areas of building materials, renewable energy, waste utilization and natural resource management.
Efficient practice and large scale adoption of the same supports:
- Achieving creation of productive employment in the highly unorganized sector through direct jobs or enterprise development.
- Promoting gender equality with focus on formal employment opportunities with equal benefits through employment and entrepreneur security.
- Ensuring environmental sustainability through improved energy efficiencies thereby conserving precious natural resources, increased use of waste materials and reduction of environmental emissions.
Till date, approximately 4,000 of these rural enterprises have been created globally. Green Jobs for over 25,000 people and indirect employment benefits for approximately 75,000 more have been ensured, delivering savings of around 150,000 tonnes of GHG emissions.
