Decent work for youth is pivotal in achieving equitable, inclusive, and sustainable development. India has one of the largest youth populations in the world, with a substantial informal economy sector of 85% of the total working population. The country grapples with the challenge of low-paid jobs, poor working conditions, subsistence-based work, and more importantly, a spectrum of unemployment. With most opportunities based in urban areas, creating regional imbalances in job creation, and limited access to jobs and skilling opportunities, especially for rural population. The country needs effective and innovative solutions to deal with the decent work deficit and empower young people to take up aspiration-driven opportunities.TARA is working directly with rural educated-unemployed youth for skill development and trainings to connect them with mainstream job market. With women, we are working to form SHGs to develop entrepreneurial skills in women to become self-reliant.

The overall impact of the project is to improve the quality and financial cost recovery in the power supply in Uttar Pradesh thereby leading to 24X7 power for all. In this project four model divisions have been chosen to pilot the new replicable strategies. For this purpose, four divisions have been selected, namely, EDD-II Varanasi, EDD-II Barabanki, EDD-II Kosi and EDD-II Meerut.
